O Christmas Tree

It took me awhile to get into the holiday spirit but now I am going full force. I am playing Christmas music 24/7 and wrapping packages like a mad woman. Marley is also getting into the holiday spirit as you can see in the pictures. He really enjoys pulling Check Spellingthe bows and tissue paper off the presents. I've opened up three presents so far and they were all amazing (thanks Chad!). I received a Nintendo DS...with the Brain Age and Cooking games. My first brain age was 80 but now I am down to 54 years old all in a matter of 24 hours. I also received the Keurig coffee maker. Since opening the gift last night around 10:00 I have had 5 cups of coffee, 1 cup of tea, and 1 cup of hot chocolate. :) Its awesome. Last but not least I got the Top Chef cookbook!!

Happy Holidays everyone!

New Fav

Since I got my new laptop pillow (thanks mom!) I have been internet surfing more than usual. I'm also being lazy and trying to Christmas shop online to avoid the horrendous crowds flocking to the Green Hills area. I recently came across this new site www.etsy.com and think its the best thing since sliced bread :) I would describe the site as a big online craft fair. It is the "place to buy and sell all things handmade." The site is very organized and my OCD just loves that! They break everything down into tabs and categories. There is a gift giving section and also a section to find local artist in your area. Below are a few of my favorite items...

Unique earrings. I'm quite the jewelry whore.

How cute is this dog hat and scarf? I think Marley would be quite the Pimp in this.
Fun iPhone holder...to bad I don't have an iPhone :(

I want this...

I stumbled across this in my random Internet surfing last night. How cool is this!?!? Its cozy, eco-friendly, and stylish. Starbucks should start selling these. I've only found them in tan and red. Great Christmas stocking stuffer!

Happy Birthday!!

On Sunday, January 27, 2008 I became the owner/mom to a 6 week old puggle (pug+beagle). I brought him home and named him Marley. Tomorrow, he will turn 1! Life as a dog owner has been very entertaining, rewarding, frustrating, and time-consuming. Here is a list of a few things I have learned along the way:

1. Never underestimate the level of destruction a dog can perform on your house/belongings as evidenced by chewed up shoes, CDs, jump drives, toys, socks, underwear, books, bras, rugs, and plastic bottles.

2. One can no longer stay out all night downtown at the "honky tonks"...you have a small child at home that needs to be feed/walked.

3. Guilt! Guilt for not coming home at lunch, guilt for eating delicious human food while your dog stares at you with those big sad eyes, guilt for cutting his man parts off, and guilt for when life gets so busy and there is no time for a little game of tug-o-war.

4. It doesn't matter that it is raining/snowing/freezing cold, your tired, sick, lazy, or busy... your dog still needs to go outside!

5. Pride! Pride for when your dog graduates puppy class, pride for when your dog handles himself at the big dog park, and pride for when everyone talks about how darn cute he is.

Below are some of my favorite pics.

Gettin' Old

Working in a nursing home for nearly two years has allowed me to see what aging does to both the mind and body. Let me tell you people IT IS NOT PRETTY. I seriously didn't think breast/balls/butt cheeks could sag so much. It still shocks me to this day even though I've seen a million by now. Another part of the body..well one of your main organs to be exact...that aging reeks havoc on is your SKIN. It becomes thin, brusied, flakey, wrinkly, and just down right disgusting. But...I have noticed that some of the residents have better skin then others. A new patient of my (whom upon meeting told me "I'm a vain person honey") has what I would consider great skin for her age. She told me her secret and I've decided to be nice and share it with others. She swears by it, said she has used it for 40 years, and made me try some. I don't know if thats the answer or if she has good genes. Maybe she didn't bake herself in the sun/tanning bed like most of us do. Either way I'm willing to give it a try. Now if I could just find a way to stop my butt from sagging down to the back of my knees.
